Pro-Choice ‘Call Me Maybe’ Cover

I know that everyone is probably sick of Carly Rae Jepsen “Call Me Maybe” along with all of its covers, but this one is pretty darn cool. A group of Virginia women called Coochwatch made the video in response to Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli‘s campaign to close abortion clinics in his state:

At least it’s better than this version by the Chicago Young Republicans.

1000 times better than the original. It kills me that women’s health and choice  issues are even something that is up for debate at this point. Its 2012 women should be afforded every right to control what she does with her body.

I’ve never heard  “Call Me Maybe”, so that’s probably why I think it’s extra awesome.

    This video is awesome!
It shows a great way to have fun while supporting a worthy cause (women’s reproductive rights).
I love how they have linked the name of Republican politician Ken Cuccinelli to the word “Cooch”. It wonderfully plays on how the religious right is afraid of vaginas and is obsessed with controlling them.

I managed to not know about it until last week.  At which point a friend mentioned it on FB.  So stupid me, I had to look it up out of curiosity.  I’m not sure if I’ll ever forgive him.

    One of the better covers.

That’s great!  I particularly liked the close up of the motto on the seal of the State of Virginia: Sic Semper Tyrannis.

  • Glasofruix

I prefer the college humor’s take on that awful song.

Here is a nice orchestral version I recently came across:

I think I like this one better. Lyrics=awesome.

Clever and right to the point — we need more of this!
