Mitt Romney During His Proselytizing Days…

In case you’ve missed it, this week’s Doonesbury strip features a look back at Mitt Romney proselytizing during his Mormon mission trip to France:

He’s portrayed as annoying, smug, and unwelcome.

In other words, pretty much the same as he is now.

On behalf of the rest  of Massachusetts, I really wish people would stop referring to us as his state.  It feels unclean. At least they could stop to consider the fact that he has absolutely zero chance of winning here in November.

Mitt Romney thinking the Vietnam war is false.  He was an enthusiastic supporter of the war.  Here he is at a PRO-war protest:

Although it is true he got multiple deferments so he could go on an extended vacation… errr mission in France.  Because fighting in wars is something poor people do.

I believe that panel was just intended to show him as weaselly… he’s happy to adopt whatever platform he thinks will get him elected, regardless of his former opinions.

As John Peterson said to your previous comment:

“I believe that panel was just intended to show him as weaselly… he’s happy to adopt whatever platform he thinks will get him elected, regardless of his former opinions.”

Romney supported the war in Viet Nam, as did Dick Cheney, George W. Bush, and Dan Quayle.  Like these other guys, Romney had “better” things to do than actually serve.  War always sound like a good idea to right wing chicken hawks, as long as they’re not called upon to actually serve in them.   If Romney wants to attack Iran, then I want to see all five of his sons in uniform and leading the way.
