Speaking About Math at DePaul University

On Tuesday, October 16th, at 7:00p in room 325 of the Lincoln Park Student Center, I’ll be giving a talk at DePaul University about the need for more critical thinking in math classes! The talk is sponsored by the DePaul Alliance for Free Thought, it’s free to the public, and I’ll give you extra credit if you come :)

More information is here. Hope to see you there!

    Have you read the following?

It might be interesting to make students figure out why this method works, but it isn’t really practicall.

Try doing 89*75 with it : you’ll be bored tracing lines, and to count intersections you’ll be doing the exact same one digit multiplications you’re doing with the standard method.
