A Collection of Atheist Awesome, Episode 2

Hold on to your butts, people — we’ve got some more awesomeness coming your way!

After reading our last episode of awesome, reader Alex Greene decided to participate in his local Out of the Darkness Walk on behalf of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. You can donate to his cause here!

Reader is inspired by others’ awesomeness to support an excellent humanitarian cause?

The Atheists, Humanists, and Agnostics at UW-Madison (those crazy kids who put on the Freethought Festival) recently applied for AND received a ginormous grant from their school in order to fund projects like Faith Questioning and Secular Support Groups.

Students rocking so hard that their school gives them all the monies to fund amazing programs to help those who are transitioning away from their faith?

Finally, speaking of students, the Secular Student Alliance at the University of Michigan (Ann-Arbor) recently hosted a debate between Eddie Tabash and Frank Turek with over 500 people in attendance.

Even moar students rocking like a hurricane to bring intellectually-stimulating events to their campus?

If you or someone you know has done something totally amazeballs awesome, let us know: Send your awesomeness to friendlyatheistsubmissions@gmail.com!

Lauren, I really appreciate hearing about these positive actions that atheist groups and individuals are doing. Please keep reporting them. The number of comments that this kind of post generates is not an indication of how much it is needed. We definitely need to hear about these things so that we will be inspired to do similar things ourselves.
