George Carlin and Bill Hicks Get Auto-tuned

melodysheep is back combining something you love with something you totally hate: Comedians Bill Hicks and George Carlin… and auto-tune!

Damn, I miss Carlin. I never really listened to Bill Hicks’ comedy, but losing Carlin was devastating on a personal level.

Hicks was effing awesome. I know you don’t have a tv but you do stream Netflix, right??? Check out American: The Bill Hicks Story (it’s on netflix instant)

Now I’m sad about Carlin all over again!!!!

the funniest man alive today couldn’t muster much humor at the memorial: “What he did took courage.”

  • ZachsMind

i like auto tune. i just don’t like what some do with it. This was nice tho.

Yeah….No.  I heard that disaster of Sagan a while back way, way too much – everyone with no talent and a tin ear was trumpeting that garbage.  Couldn’t they leave autotune to die an ignominious death?

  • Larry Meredith

You’ve listened to Bill Hicks’ comedy… from Dennis Leary.

  • TerranRich

I didn’t think I’d like it, but I ended up loving this.

  • Ben Porter

Carlin was a great thinker. Several of my views of the world are based upon the comedy of his i saw when younger.

I can’t even imagine what Bill Hicks would have to say about what’s been going on within the last 10 years, but I’m pretty sure that would have been quite an act :)

  • TychaBrahe

I think it’s weird that autotuning isn’t what I would think of as composition, but as soon as I started listening, I knew it was by the person who had done Symphony of Science.

  • compl3x

I often wonder what both Carlin and Hicks would have to say if they were still around.

I only ever had two heroes in comedy, Hicks and Carlin. Wile losing Carlin hurt, he was an old man who left behind a full body of work and an incredible career to look back on.

The tragedy of Hicks is that when you think about all he accomplished and the legacy he left behind at the age of 32, you realize we’ve been robbed of some incredible potential and he was denied the chance to realize it.

I miss them both. One for all that he was and the other for all that he could have been.

Alas, my work computer dosn’t have sound…I’ve have to wait to the end of the day to listen. I have all the Symphony of Science songs downloaded and on a CD in my car. I find them soothing when other music can be jarring at the end of a long day.

I was fortunate enough to be at Carlin’s very last show…I will never forget it–he was brilliant, as always.
