Eschaton 2012: The Best of Times, The End of Times

The Ottawa Centre for Inquiry is hosting a conference at the end of this month called Eschaton 2012: Celebrating Reason at the End of the World:

Come to Ottawa for a weekend gathering of scientists, philosophers, authors, academics, skeptics, rationalists, humanists, atheists, and freethinkers, where you can see presentations and join discussions on science, skepticism, gender issues, theocracy vs secularism, godless ethics, parenting beyond belief. Featured speakers include blogger PZ Myers, author Ophelia Benson, philosopher Chris DiCarlo, science education activist Eugenie Scott, and many others.

If you’re in the area — or planning on moving in the case of a Romney victory — this sounds like an excellent way to spend your time and support a local organization :)

“in the case of a Romney victory” You haven’t heard? Romney’s victory is assured.

What a shocking coincidence!  I just finished a post promoting the very same thing.  But my post has a picture of PZ infront of an exploding Earth.  So there!

My favourite link would have to be the end of world beer commercial for Shock Top.

Too pricy for this Ottawan (too bad, I was hoping to go).  I notice that the list of speakers still includes Natalie Reed; will she actually be attending?  I know she has said she will no longer post about the atheist movement, so I am surprised to see her on a list of speakers at an atheist convention.

So far as we know, Natalie is still coming.  Also, as indicated, we have discounts available for volunteers, and there are still positions available
