Sex Sells…Coffins?

Yep, you read that right. From Reuters:

“A Polish firm that makes coffins has angered the Catholic church by trying to drum up business with a calendar depicting topless models posing next to its caskets…

“My son had the idea of creating the company’s calendar… so that we could show something half-serious, colorful, beautiful; the beauty of Polish girls and the beauty of our coffins,” said Zbigniew Lindner, the firm’s owner.

“We wanted to show that a coffin isn’t a religious symbol. Its a product,” he said. “Why are people afraid of coffins and not of business suits, cosmetics or jewelry?”

Of course, the church is a bit upset that such a calendar exists.

“The Catholic church has condemned the calendar as inappropriate. A church spokesman has said that human death should be treated with solemnity and not mixed up with sex.”

If you are curious to see what the photos actually look like, here is a link to both this year and past years’ calendars (NSFW).

Sex does sell coffins it’s just that the payoff is such a long ways off.

I was planning to be cremated, but after seeing those adds I may change my mind afeter all… :-)

Those tainted with religious belief all seem to love death and sell death as the ultimate payoff for a life lived deluded by faith. Death is not much fun. You’d think the catholics would be pleased to see an attempt to bling it up a bit with something we all love, sex! Wowser pricks.

I’m disturbed, intrigued, and… a little bit aroused.

Ah, Poland, my home country.  If you’re not busy being creepy about religion, then you must be being creepy about sex…  or both.
Sex sells everything in Poland.  Here’s a political ad:
Congressdude saves a woman from being raped, so she offers to show him her breasts.  He says “no- just vote for me.”  Creeptastic.

I dunno, the images themselves are actually quite pretty…almost like pictures of topless models that HAPPEN to have coffins in them.

Personally, I’d rather not have something like death be grim and stuff…I’d rather have topless models dancing on my coffin as opposed to people crying their eyes out at my funeral while someone drones on and on about my awesomeness…

You aint the only one! WTF??

And on the subject of the actual pictures…  Am I the only one who noticed the obvious religious subtext of March 2013?
