When is Chick-fil-A Going on the Naughty List?

Liberty Counsel wants to remind everyone to use their Friend or Foe list when shopping this weekend. “Friends” are any stores promoting Christmas and “Foes” are any stores promoting the holiday season (and, therefore, being more inclusive of everyone).

Interestingly enough, Chick-fil-A is on their good side — despite the company sending out a recent press release promoting their “holiday” offerings (PDF):

Just in time for holiday gift giving, the Chick-fil-A® “Eat Mor Chikin®” Cows are saluting 12 of history’s most famous “moonarchs” with the debut of the 2013 Cow Calendar…

For the fourth consecutive holiday season, the Peppermint Chocolate Chip Milkshake is returning to Chick-fil- A menus as a limited-time flavor.

Liberty Counsel is just conveniently ignoring all that, of course… because why piss off the one company whose ownership is as bigoted as you are?

My Christmas present is to see “pro-family/marriage” advocates, like Newt Gingrich, or Rush Limbaugh, try to spin people pointing out the hypocrisy as somehow an attack on “Biblical Marriage”.

So, someone saying this holiday season could be seen as being tolerant of Christmas, Kwanzaa and Hanukkah is thusforth a bad person. I find it amusing how we get ripped on by religious followers for persecuting them when they do it to themselves all the time.

Ah, good old fashioned Christianist tribalism.

  • jdm8

Of course. They know that open Christians that say “Happy Holidays” really means “Merry Christmas”. Anyone else that says “Happy Holidays” really means “Happy Saturnalia, Kwanzaa and hail Satan”.

Foe is everyone promoting commercialism. I’d save and invest my money for a rainy day. Happy spending everyone else! Is there any reason why holidays should be at this time of the year?

  • Rando

Another case of Christian Hypocrisy. It doesn’t surprise me anymore, after all these are the same people that rally against government making medical decisions for the elderly, but has no problem letting someone’s boss decide if they can get birth control pills.

It’s traditional? Probably goes back three thousand years and more.

Apparently, for Liberty Council and for a growing percentage of the shrinking number of Christians, what unites them is not what they love in common, but what they hate in common. It’s a disgusting process to have to watch as those who remain distill themselves down, down to only the most dedicated haters. The fetid pool will eventually dry up, leaving only a stain on the ground.

Well, that’s what I mean.  Can’t speak for the rest of you.

  • Isilzha

Well, you know, they’re weighing the use of “happy holidays” against the promotion of killing of homosexuals in Uganda.  Guess we know where their priorities are!

  • Aguz

They might hate gays, but they still love money.

I don’t know about all that, but I for one am going to begin to say “thusforth” constantly.  That’s awesome.

  • nakedanthropologist

Why quibble about the word “holiday” when you can get funding that will help murder gay people?  Those people make me fucking sick.

  • Thomas Farrell

Hemant, shame on you, you’ve forgotten the #1 rule of being a right winger: “rules are for other people.”

  • Raising_Rlyeh

A “Christian” company forging their deeply held beliefs in order to make  a profit by appealing to a wider base? I guess those beliefs are only good when it comes to denying things like health care or equal rights to their customers.

Because it’s dark and cold which makes it the perfect time to gather with friends and family in cozy surroundings, light things up, give each other things, and eat as much as you can. And, since the days start getting longer henceforth, it’s a logical place in the calendar year to set New Year’s.

    Northern hemisphere chauvinist! ;-)

  • Peekaboo

Ironic that “the friendly atheist” website is listing people as friends and foes. Interesting….

Lmao, reading comprehension isn’t your forte, is it?
