The Atheist Census is Back Up and Running!

After suffering a DDoS attack, the Atheist Census is back up and ready to collect data. The heading on the page now reads:

All data confirmed in Atheist Census prior to the DoS attack has been retained. If you have already confirmed your data you do not need to enter it again.

Yay! So head over there and help gather some nifty data about the distribution of atheists around the world:

  • Nora

    I’ve been counted! =)

  • Kevin_Of_Bangor

Well that was simple enough :)

  • marco

Seems to be primarily a male thing.

  • allein

Well I just added my data point to the female side :)

I wasn’t sure about the title question, though. Usually if someone were to ask me what religion I am, I would simply say I’m not religious; if they ask outright if I’m an atheist, I will say yes. So I decided to go with “non-religious” since that would generally be my first response to the question. But really I’ll use either depending on the situation.

That is a staggering amount of College Education when de-allocating some portion of 15-24 age group as being too young for anything but primary & secondary education.

No wonder Republicans discredit higher education so heavily.

  • chicago dyke

almost 80% are college educated? that’s impressive.

  • the moother

No option for “anti theist” :(

  • Nancyfrankandjoe

Huh, I’m sort of surprised there was no question for sexual orientation or race…

  • Nancyfrankandjoe

For me, as a woman raised xian, girls are made to feel much more guilty for leaving the church…we’re expected to be the “good girls” that Christian guys grow up to marry (ie you leave xianity to sl*t around, right?) and be primarily responsible for raising any children to be belivers (my future kids will be godless heathens1!010!)

  • allein

Huh, you’re right, I didn’t even think of that. I did notice how they worded the gender question, though.

  • Unequivocally_Joked

I’m surprised France isn’t more represented. I thought they were notoriously atheistic. Must just be a logistics thing.

  • Anna

Well, I filled it out, but I didn’t receive a validation e-mail. I think that means it wasn’t counted. Should I try again?

  • GloomCookie613

Give it a little while. Took almost an hour for my confirmation email to arrive.

  • Anna

It’s been about five hours here. Hmmm, I guess I’ll wait until tomorrow, and if it hasn’t shown up by then, I’ll try a second time.

  • Rachel

I wonder if they’re collecting IP addresses — I just filled it out while in the library at a local Catholic college, on their guest network.  That made me happy.

  • Remi

Maybe it’s just my computer, but it seems to be down again.  It worked while I was validating my own data, but I just went back to send the link to my sister and the DDoS page was up again.

  • Keulan

Done. I thought it’d be a bit more complicated than that. Interesting data they’ve gathered so far.

  • Richard Wade

Counted. This is fascinating. I’m interested in the one guy so far in all of Greenland. He’s 25-34, Trade Qualification education level, from Christianity excluding Catholicism background, and prefers the title of atheist.

  • Anna

It finally showed up at 6:48 this morning!

  • Thackerie

I had to go with “other” because the survey failed to list my title of choice. I’m a heathen — and proud of it!

  • Maninspired

Not working for me.. “The action you have requested is not allowed.”
