Atheists at UW-Madison Will Host Their Second Free Conference

It’s amazing that a campus atheist group can organize one of the best free freethought conferences around. It’s even more amazing when they have the leadership, motivation, and support from the school to do it all again.

The Atheists, Humanists, and Agnostics at UW-Madison are hosting Freethought Festival 2 from March 8th-10th and, if you’re able to, you’ll want to attend this. Lots of great speakers over the course of the weekend.

Like I said, it’s a free conference — but you do have to register.

Hope to see you there!

It’s not really free. And they shouldn’t complain when taxes, tuition and student activity fees rise.

  • WoodyTanaka

That’s okay. The school can just cut all the Jeebus clubs and save money that way.

  • RobMcCune

A fraction of a penny isn’t much to complain about.

  • David Ellington

And isn’t that the ultimate goal? But all the Jeebus stuff?
Thanks for blurting out the truth.

  • WoodyTanaka

Yes. Religion and faith should be treated like genitals: if you want to take them out in the privacy of your own home with other consenting adults, feel free. But don’t expose minors to them and don’t take them out in public. They have no place there.

I’m looking forward to this event. Last year was great.
And to the bible thumping hypocrit complaining about the UW spending his tax money, he or she should remember that religion gets a free ride and always has – no taxes on their churches which they abuse extensively, and we pay for the decorations and celebraitons of their religious holidays – so suck it up and give us all a break.

  • HenryS

Sounds like you are the one complaining, whiner. Your religious organizations don’t pay any taxes, your clergy get special breaks, we pay out of our taxes for the streets, street cleaning, snow removal, safety and traffic control around your churches, and we pay for parades and decorations so you can celebrate your holidays – so as I said before – suck it up and stop your whining.
