Help Out CTHULU!

Yes, you read that right. I’m asking you to help out CTHULU: the Critical Thinkers, Humanists, and Unbelievers at Lawrence University. (Is that not the most clever acronym you’ve seen for a Secular Student Alliance affiliate or what?)

They’re currently selling t-shirts online to raise money for their group and the original design is done by the group’s founder and president, Alexa Blumenstock.

If you want to order one, you have to be fast — today is the last day to make a reservation! (After all the orders are in, Alexa will have the price finalized and send out emails before the order is placed officially.)

HOLY CATS that is a great t-shirt.

  • Rain

It would make a great tie, although maybe a little scary looking.

    Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn! Iä Yog-Sothoth! Iä! Iä! Shub-Niggurath!

    ….

Sorry, for some reason I blacked out when I read the title of the blog. Did I write something up there? Must have hit the keyboard with my head. Sorry again.

Some say Cthulhu was just a story written down by H.P. Lovecraft. Do they ever consider that Mr.Lovecraft wasn’t really a very original person? Couldn’t the motivation for his stories come from someplace outside of him? The ideas of his stories seem very coherant and scare me totally. As such, I feel the need to point out your post seems hardly like your usual work and also driven from the outside. All of these outside forces are probably better given a name. For that name, I choose Cthulhu. Now, since I want to avoid a fate worse than hell, I’ll continue to worship Cthulhu who has made himself known and influences us today.

What? Maybe my sarcasm detector is out of sync but are you serious? Because you totally sound it. In the (admittedly remote) possibility that you are: 1- Lovecraft made all that up and he said so himself multiple times, also if a fantasy story is coherent doesn’t mean it’s true (the Lord of the Rings legendarium is one of the most coherent works of literature of the 20th century, but I doubt Tolkien was “guided” by some outside force) 2 – You realize my post was written with what we call a humorous intent, right?
If you were being humorous yourself, please paint me an idiot and ignore this comment.

I’m overly fond of satire and enjoy H.P.s florid use of language. The tip off is supposed to be the Kalam followed by Pascal’s wager.

Ok sorry I’m an idiot XD
But kudos on the Poe, you had me fooled there.

As a Lawrence alumnus I am proud of my school

  • Reginald Selkirk

While that is an accepted alternate spelling, I think I’ll hold out for something from Lock Haven University.

    • Alexa Blumenstock

If only I had gone to that school instead…

It would be an even better t shirt if Great Cthulhu’s name was actually spelt right…

    • Reginald Selkirk

The Outer Gods are fussy about this sort of thing…

That my or may not be, but Wikipedia is quite lenient

CthulhuCthulhu has also been spelled as Tulu, Clulu, Clooloo, Cthulu,
