Richard Dawkins Will Appear on ‘The Simpsons’ This Sunday

I’m sure someone will jokingly say “South Park Already Did It,” but at least “The Simpsons” are getting the real thing: Richard Dawkins will play himself in this Sunday’s episode “Black-Eyed, Please.”

No word yet on *how* Dawkins will be featured in the episode or how many lines he’ll have, but I think we can all agree on one thing…

Please argue with Ned Flanders.

The Futon Critic has a description of the episode, which will also feature the voice of Tina Fey:

Flanders becomes jealous when his laid-back parents start to prefer Homer’s company over his and he faces unbearable guilt after punching Homer in the eye, as he desperately tries to reconcile with him. Meanwhile, Lisa is distressed by her new substitute teacher (guest voice Tina Fey), who bullies her for no apparent reason…

I’ve reached out to Dawkins to see what else he can tell us about the episode and I’ll provide an update if he responds.

I think “The Simpsons” is well past it’s shelf life, so the guest appearance of Dawkins may not amount to much.

It would be comical to have Ned and Dawkins argue, however! I hate to say it, but Flanders would probably hold out longer.

Dr. Who AND The Simpsons, well color me jealous.

  • Dangerous Talk

Sam Simon is a member of American Atheists, so I’m surprised Dawkins hasn’t been on already.

I didn’t even know The Simpsons was still on the air.

  • Rich Wilson

I’d like to see Silverman on, but he doesn’t have the name recognition. Although maybe an episode on billboards. Where the main controversy isn’t the content of the sign but the the design.

    Ya, not a big draw.

My bet is Dawkins will be investigating a previously unknown lineage in human evolution- a throwback to the ‘missing link’- a gene on the Simpson Y chromosome.

Bulling AND Atheism in one episode? I would think they each deserve their own 22 minutes at least!

  • LesterBallard

Dawkins will deconvert Ned. Or Ned will convert Dawkins . . .

Anyone feel like watching “Lisa The Skeptic”?

  • Jessica

Tina Fey and Dawkins in one episode?
I want to make out with it.

  • Kevin_Of_Bangor

They have already done a show where Flanders was the devil and Homer has proven God does not exist. Even Ned said it was air tight then he proceeds to destroy the evidence.

I wonder if Dawkins will tell Lisa to stop whining. It still sickens me to see that man get favorable press.

  • Raising_Rlyeh

Well, Doctor Who was more of a reference with Dawkins being the head of a cult that believed in the existence of stars. I’d like to take that as stating that Dawkins is smart enough to notice and remember that there should be stars.

Hard to believe The Simpsons have been on since late 1989. I remember watching it in college. Now I am 47 and my kids watch it.
