Peter Ist, who previously engraved an awesome portrait of Carl Sagan on black granite, has now done the same thing with Isaac Asimov and (again) it looks incredible:
Hemant Mehta is the chair of Foundation Beyond Belief and a high school math teacher in the suburbs of Chicago. He began writing the Friendly Atheist blog in 2006. His latest book is called The Young Atheist's Survival Guide.
I love Isaac Asimov, mutton chops and all. Great portrait, and a great quote!
Surely if we’re carving faces into mysterious black obelisks, Arthur C Clarke would be a prime candidate, surely?
With all the new public atheist we must not forget Asimov who did so much to raise the stature of unbelief when few others were and do some excellent science education at the same time.
We should have got this guy to do the atheist bench. He makes pretty things.
I know we don’t believe in gods, but Issac Asimov was a god – the sheer quality and quantity of his work is worshippable. I too dig the chops and the quote. If we were going to put up an atheistic monument to counterbalance some christain one – this would get my vote.
