Rapidfire Debunking of #ChristianLogic

Jaclyn Glenn and Stevie Boebi burn through several common arguments Christians have actually made toward atheists:

My favorite rebuttals come at the 0:47 and 2:49 marks :)

    Thats great.

Pretty much sums it all up. (And quite the trifecta: smart, funny, and good looking.)

    Nailed it.

  • Timmah

    Logic is hawt.

Have the definitions of “debunking” and “rebuttals” changed? All I heard was a mocking reiteration of clueless things that some Christians say.

    • Rain

Christians are their own self-debunking rebuttals. They scored an “own goal” on the opposing team.

    • spookiewon

Do these things really need “debunking” in your mind? Do any of them actually make enough sense that anyone would accept them absent the confirmation bias that is christianity? In all honesty, is that what you’re saying?

      • John Small Berries

When the video is explicitly described as “Rapidfire Debunking of #ChristianLogic”, and specific timestamps are provided as examples of “rebuttals”, then yes, I expect to actually see some genuine debunking and rebuttals.

Otherwise it shows a disregard for accuracy that’s little different from a Creationist’s.

    • Pofarmer

      It’s all good.

  • Robin

Actually, I have seen a lot of babies that look like monkeys when they are first born….so what does that mean?????

I love the 1:09 to 1:20 bit. “We have to look at the cultural context.” I wished they could work in the WLC reasoning, “if god said it was ok, it’s not wrong.”

  • Orson Sedmina

really? only one comment mentions how much we’d all like to sin with those two?? (at the same time?)

    • Oranje

Eh, that’ll get you a talking to, generally speaking. Kind of a “think it, don’t say it” sort of deal.

      • Orson Sedmina

oh have a sense of humor, I’m sure those two do

I wouldn’t call them ‘arguments’. More like moronic opinions.

Atheist women, smarter and hotter than fundies.

  • Roger Peritone

Man, they have one messed up hater on their video there. MRA for sure, and probably a xian or a Poe, given why he’s mad.

  • Chris

Why can I google+1 and Tweet posts on your website, but not ‘Like’ them? I’ve always wondered that.

Not sure if snarky, sarcastic comments meet the classical requirements for “logic.” Would more appropriately read: “things many American Fundamentalist Christians say” While I know people personally who would fit some of these statements/rationale, I know many who do not yet profess belief in the Christian God and live those values on a daily basis. If we wish to build a community on “integrity, trustworthiness, benevolence, and fairness,” (the values of SH) perhaps we should shy away from straw-men and stereotypes in favor of honest discourse. If one only views religion as a viewpoint of simpletons; something re-presented in a rudimentary, comical sense as in the video, we fail to see the abstract and sublime which lies within the very depths of the human experience — the things that no amount of sciencism and physicalist philosophy can adequately give meaning to. Keep searching my friends.
