Christian Auto Shop Owner Won’t Serve Openly Gay Clients

Grandville, Michigan auto repair shop owner Brian Klawiter said on Facebook this week that he would not serve gay customers at Dieseltec.

(How he would know they’re gay is anyone’s guess.)

Guns ARE allowed at DIESELTEC, so much so in fact that we will offer a discount if you bring in your gun. (“On duty” cops are excluded because thats not their gun, thats my gun bought with my money, off duty absolutely!)

I am a Christian. My company will be run in a way that reflects that. Dishonesty, thievery, immoral behavior, etc. will not be welcomed at MY place of business. (I would not hesitate to refuse service to an openly gay person or persons. Homosexuality is wrong, period. If you want to argue this fact with me then I will put your vehicle together with all bolts and no nuts and you can see how that works.)

(Edit: It was pointed out to me that the bolts/nuts line wasn’t suggesting he would mess with your car — I didn’t catch the reference — so I’ve removed that from the headline. My apologies.)

What about adulterers? Blasphemers? Does Klawiter realize that all the “Christian sins” he’s worried about aren’t evident just by looking at the customers? Forget the bigotry for a second; I can’t even figure out how Klawiter plans to implement his Customer Purity Test.

(In case you’re wondering, Grandville is one of the Michigan cities that doesn’t have an anti-discrimination ordinance protecting LGBT individuals, so what Klawiter’s doing is legal. Stupid, but legal.)

But you know what? I’m glad he’s making his bigotry public. I hope everyone in the area is aware of how he treats LGBT people — and hopefully it’ll result in less business because they don’t want to give their money to someone who cares about guns more than gays, who treats customers on a sliding scale based on how much they agree with his beliefs, and who threatens to perform shoddy service on your car if you disagree with him.

Klawiter says he has to earn your business, but he doesn’t seem to realize that he can lose it even more easily.
