Cochran (Georgia) City Council Will Hoist Christian Flag Above Courthouse, Against Attorney’s Advice

The city council members in Cochran, Georgia have a novel way of settling church/state separation issues. Like hoisting a Christian flag in front of the courthouse.

They just figure out what the majority wants and follow suit:

Councilman Gary Ates said he made the motion for the [Christian] flag to stay up. He said the council voted to keep it up 5 to 1. “The city manager took the flag down because an attorney said we could have a problem,” said Ates.

Ates said, “The people of Cochran came to a city council meeting and said ‘let’s put the flag back up’,” said Ates.

Ates said about 75 to 100 people requested it to be put up again.

“It was the right thing to do,” said Ates.

Umm… What the hell are you thinking? Listen to the person with the legal background!
