Colorado House Member Who Blamed Legalized Abortion for a Pregnant Woman’s Stabbing Announces Senate Run

Gordon Klingenschmitt (below) is the minister who got elected to the Colorado House last year despite a laundry list of jaw-dropping past statements.

After his election, he gained national attention for saying that a pregnant woman was brutally stabbed because abortion is legal, a comment that cost him a committee assignment.

So I guess it makes sense that he just announced he’s going run for State Senate. Because when you fuck up that badly, the people of your state should reward you with even more power.

The seat is held by Senate President Bill Cadman, who will reach his term limit in 2016.

Klingenschmitt said he fasted for 72 hours before the Wednesday night meeting and asked for God’s advice on his political future.

God told a Republican to run for higher office? Shocking.

Notice in that video how tepid the applause is… Even at a town hall meeting, his own constituents don’t seem very enthusiastic about his plan.

On the upside, he’s not running for re-election in the House. So if he gets defeated in this race, it could be the last time we see him in elected office.
