Pastor Creflo Dollar May Get His $65 Million Private Jet After All

Remember a couple of months ago, when Pastor Creflo Dollar asked his followers for enough money to purchase a $65 million plane? (For Jesus.)

A month later, we learned the fundraiser was cancelled (though it’s unclear how much money they took in before that). Dollar said to his congregation that “The Enemy” was just trying to discredit him because he’s a voice of “faith and grace and truth.”

(Nah. We were trying to discredit him because he’s building an empire on the backs of gullible followers who think they’re pleasing God. Unlike Dollar, we are looking out for their best interests.)

Well, it looks like Dollar may be getting his jet now. According to a statement released by the World Changers Church International Board of Directors, they’re gonna buy this plane because it’s what God wants:

A long-range, high-speed, intercontinental jet aircraft is a tool that is necessary in order to fulfill the mission of the ministry. In light of an unfortunate accident that recently resulted in the ministry’s aircraft being declared a total loss, it is our intention to purchase another airplane at a time, place and price of our choosing.

… We seek out what we believe to be the will of God, we allow ourselves to dream BIG, we present our ‘family’ with an opportunity to ‘invest,’ and we all come together to turn those dreams into reality. We plan to acquire a Gulfstream G650 because it is the best, and it is a reflection of the level of excellence at which this organization chooses to operate

We respectfully request that those who are not involved respect our right to practice what we believe, and only ask of the press that they report facts, and not fictional reports or biased perspectives…

No one’s challenging their right to get the jet. We’re questioning the wisdom of it. Believe it or not, other ministries manage to do just fine flying coach. (Or not flying at all.)

There’s just one problem with their brilliant plan: They may have to wait a while because the plane’s not available:

Since 2013, the company has delivered about 50 of the jets annually and they are getting orders for the multimillion dollar aircraft “every day.” The company now has a backlog on orders for the aircraft through the beginning of 2018.

Getting a used G650 also appears to have gotten a lot tougher since March when the company advertised one on it’s website for $67,950,000.

“We are no longer working with that seller,” said [Gulfstream’s sales director Kevin] Valik, who noted that he doesn’t know if the seller wants to keep the plane now or might be trying to sell it through other avenues.

I doubt the Creflo folks will mind. If they can’t get the jet, they’ll be able to wipe their tears with millions of dollars in untaxed cash.
