Tennessee Store Owner with “No Gays Allowed” Sign Backtracks a Little Bit

A day after Jeff Amyx, owner of Amyx Hardware & Roofing Supplies in East Tennessee, posted a signed on his door saying “No Gays Allowed,” he’s made a few changes in order to come off as a little nicer.

So how does a jackass show off his good side?

By changing the sign to this:

“We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who would violate our rights of freedom of speech & freedom of religion.”

I’m not even sure how anyone could take those rights away from him… If he’s worried about people violating his right to free speech, then he should ban government officials from his store, not gay people who want to buy some lumber.

Amyx, who is Baptist, says he’ll sell to gay people as long as they “behave” and don’t express their opinions in his store.

I promise you the number of gay people in East Tennessee who have fantasies that involve buying new gutters, then getting it on in the store, is really, really low.

In any case, I guess everyone is allowed into his store again. But I hope that’s irrelevant at this point since no decent person, gay or straight, should want to do business with this bigot ever again.
