Once Again, the St. Paul Saints Minor League Baseball Team Will Lose Its Faith for an Atheist Charity Event

It’s my favorite bit of atheist advertising all year. For the fourth consecutive year, the Minnesota Atheists will join forces with a local minor league baseball team for a game.

On Saturday, August 8, the St. Paul Saints…

… will become the Mr. Paul Aints:

That means the logos on the field will have the “S” covered up:

And the players will wear appropriate uniforms:

And while general admission to the game is $10, infield seats (a.k.a. the “Infidel” section) will cost $20.

This year, the atheists will also run a shoe drive to benefit anti-poverty group Soles4Souls. (Tagline for the event: “Leave Your Soles at the Gate.”)

Finally, the jerseys worn by players will later be auctioned off with all proceeds benefitting Foundation Beyond Belief.

“We are excited about partnering with the St. Paul Saints to achieve positive atheism in their new heavenly ballpark,” said Eric Jayne, president of Minnesota Atheists. “The game of baseball is filled with miracles, curses, saints, and sinners, so it makes sense that our national pastime could help compel baseball fans to hand over their soles to a group of atheists.”

This sort of promotion is nothing new, by the way. “Faith Nights” have been taking place at baseball stadiums (including major league ones) for several years now. So remember that when a Christian inevitably complains about how this is intolerant or part of some “radical agenda.”
