Christian Law School Dean: The Government Can’t Impose Laws Contradicting the Bible

If I told you that law students at Liberty University don’t understand the Constitution, you wouldn’t bat an eye. Of course they don’t. What else did anyone expect?

But can’t we expect more from the person running the place?

Liberty University Law School interim dean Rena Lindevaldsen gave a speech recently in which she explained how our government can absolutely push religious values on us… as long as those values are Christian:

Civil government only has the authority [which] God has established. So civil government, if it’s acting rightfully within its authority, just like individuals, should be acting consistent with Scripture.

… Government’s only just authority [is] derived from God and it’s purpose is to protect those [inalienable] rights that we have been given, not to infringe them as we’re seeing take place a lot in society today… Whether it’s zoning or taxes or marriage or abortion, in those issues, government doesn’t have authority to say that these things are appropriate because they’re contrary to Scripture.

That’s a sneaky way to ignore court rulings you don’t like; just say they’re not legitimate. (Don’t like President Obama? No problem. He’s from Kenya. Not legitimate. It’s just that easy. Anyone can play.)

Did I mention she’s the interim dean of the law school? Somehow, the school is accredited by the American Bar Association.

No word from Lindevaldsen on which interpretation of the Bible the government has to follow.
