Marco Rubio’s Latest Campaign Ad Is All About How Much He Loves Jesus: “Our Goal is Eternity”

Sen. Marco Rubio‘s latest campaign ad in Iowa is all about how much he loves Jesus.

Because this is the United States, and that’s all that matters when it comes to governing.

Rubio

Our goal is eternity. The ability to live alongside our Creator and for all time. To accept the free gift of salvation offered to us by Jesus Christ. The struggle on a daily basis as a Christian is to remind ourselves of this.

The purpose of our life is to cooperate with God’s plan. To those who much has been given, much is expected. And we will be asked to account for that.

Were your treasures stored up on Earth or in heaven? And to me, I try to allow that to influence me in everything that I do.

Rubio, a Catholic wearing the mask of an evangelical, is telling us he’s more concerned about the afterlife than his current life. As if that’s supposed to make him qualified to run a country. As if we should be glad that pleasing a vengeful God in the sky is a driving force for every single thing he does.

This is why other countries make fun of us: this passes for political debate in this country. In a smarter nation, this would be a sure sign of how little substance he brings to the table. He can’t get votes based on his merits, his record, or his expertise, so he’s campaigning on the hope that believing in the most popular bullshit story in Iowa will propel him to the top.

What’s depressing is how it’ll probably help him.
