Ted Cruz: One More Liberal Supreme Court Justice Will Lead to the Imprisonment of Christians

Ted Cruz has never been one to shy away from religious pandering or fear-mongering, but during his speech at CPAC last week, he took Persecution Express all the way to Paranoia Town.

Explaining his case for himself, Cruz issued a dire warning about what might happen without a Cruz presidency. Naturally, it involves Christian persecution, because the gubment’s going to throw Christians in prison if Cruz isn’t there to save ‘Merika from a liberal justice sitting on the Supreme Court. (And, before you ask, no, Donald Trump can’t save us. He’s disqualified for using the ‘c’ word: compromise).

We are one liberal justice away from the Supreme Court ruling that government can take our religious liberty away and force every one of us to violate our faith on penalty of prison or fine.

Cruz doesn’t elaborate on how, exactly, the robed menaces of the judicial branch are going to unleash Armageddon on Christians. He just waits for the requisite response (“no, nooo!”) from the crowd before amping up the fear-mongering.

We are one liberal justice away from the Supreme Court ordering Ten Commandments monuments torn down all over this country. We are one liberal justice away from the Supreme Court erasing the Second Amendment from the Bill of Rights.

We are one liberal justice away from the Supreme Court ordering veteran’s memorials torn down if they have any religious symbols — torn down all over this country.

And we are one liberal justice away from the Supreme Court making us subject to the World Court and the United Nations and international law and giving away US sovereignty.

Sadly for Senator Cruz, despite his best efforts, his wasn’t even the most paranoid speech shared by conservative luminaries at CPAC. You see, Senator, talk show host Gina Loudon will meet your shredding-the-constitution-and-imprisoning-Christians and raise you one “gulags-coming-to-America.” So at least you weren’t the scariest person at CPAC.

On the other hand, Loudon isn’t running for president…
