A Match Made in Hate-Heaven: Evangelical Leaders Want to Meet with Donald Trump

I guess it only makes sense that people known for their despicable treatment of LGBT people want to meet the presidential candidate known for his despicable treatment of practically everybody else.

Former presidential candidate Ben Carson is working with Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, and Bill Dallas, who leads United in Purpose, to plan a closed-door session for about 400 social conservative leaders to meet with Trump in the coming weeks in New York City. A broader steering group of about 20 people includes people like American Values president Gary Bauer, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson, and Family Leader president Bob Vander Plaats.

“We are looking for a way forward,” Perkins says. “The main thing here is this is to have a conversation.” He described the planned meeting as “a starting point for many.” The Trump campaign has not publicly confirmed that the meeting will take place.

Raise your hand if you think they’ll end up endorsing him…

Of course they will. What’s stopping them? That Trump doesn’t wear his Christianity on his sleeve, and when he tries, he fails? They don’t give a damn. We have an proudly Christian president right now and they treat him like a pariah.

They’ll line up to kiss Trump’s ass because he represents them perfectly: The arrogance, the irrational hatred toward different groups of people, the desire to move the clock backwards, the impulse to punish women, etc.

Trump doesn’t have to change a thing and they’ll eventually fall in line. Jesus Christ could be running as a Democrat, and they’d still go with Trump. He doesn’t have to do anything differently. It’s just a matter of time.
