Pseudo-Historian David Barton: Donald Trump May Be “God’s Candidate” So Let’s Roll With It

David Barton, the Christian pseudo-historian, is vouching for Donald Trump, the pseudo-Christian.

Barton said on his “WallBuilders Live” radio show yesterday that Trump was one of the “good God guys” in the race, and evangelicals ought to support him because God works in mysterious ways.

This may not be our preferred candidate, but that doesn’t mean it may not be God’s candidate to do something that we don’t see,” he said. “We may look back in a few years and say, ‘Wow, he really did some things that none of us expected.’ So I am fully open to the possibility that because we did everything as Christians that we could, we can’t complain about our turnout, we can’t complain about our quality of candidates, and this is what the people chose; I’m a whole lot more open to the fact that God may have something going here that is much bigger than what we think or see.

Well, I’ll give Barton credit there: If Trump wins, we may indeed look back one day and say that he did things we never expected.

I just doubt we’ll be proud of any of those things.

Barton, incidentally, was running a Ted Cruz super-PAC last year, but after Cruz dropped out, it’s not surprising to see Barton do whatever it takes to bring together Trump’s candidacy and God’s will.
