Pastor Rick Joyner: Donald Trump is a “Rookie President” Who Keeps Hitting Home Runs

Pastor Rick Joyner, the head of MorningStar Ministries last seen talking about how prayer supposedly cured his mother’s paranoid schizophrenia, has a lot of praise for Donald Trump, especially since he believes we were suffering under the Obama administration.

In a video posted on Facebook, Joyner hailed Trump’s recent accomplishments. (He uses that term loosely, we can only assume.)

He said Trump was a “rookie president” who “just hits one home run after another.”

“To me it’s just remarkable. This guy is a rookie, a rookie president,” Joyner told his followers, conjuring up questions of who exactly isn’t a rookie president. (Maybe Grover Cleveland, the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms?)

Joyner continued:

… But not only a rookie president, a rookie at anything elected. He’s never been a mayor before, never been elected to anything before, takes on the toughest job in the world, with everybody in the world seemingly opposing him, and he just hits one home run after another. He’s getting amazing things accomplished.

That’s right. President Trump, the man whose revamped travel ban was just shot down by yet another appeals court, can’t stop hitting dingers. And winning. Don’t forget all the winning. Joyner also didn’t mention the fact that Trump’s recent religious liberty order fell flat as well.

Joyner went on to praise Trump’s proposed budget, which has come under fire from both sides of the aisle for reasons that don’t even include the $2 trillion error.

… One of the things I was most encouraged to see in his budget, the new budget, they’re cutting over $3 trillion out of the federal budget. And Trump didn’t make much of an issue of that on the campaign, but to me, that is one of the most important issues of all. We will never get our deficits under control if we don’t control the inflated, absolutely inefficient, ineffective, inept federal bureaucracy.

It’s amazing what you can accomplish when the math doesn’t have to add up.

This praise struck me as particularly odd, though. Joyner leads a Christian empire. He exalts God and spends his life trying to convert people. Yet it’s the federal budget that’s “one of the most important issues of all”? You would think it would be religious freedom, or even helping those less fortunate, as Jesus might recommend, but apparently not.

I believe and have for some time that we could cut 85% of the federal budget and improve services. Improve everything else we’re doing. That may be a little bit of a stretch because there’s so many things, it’s so ambiguous there, you don’t know if they’re accomplishing anything or not…

At least he acknowledges it’s a bit of a stretch. If only he’d apply that same skepticism to his claims about Obama doing the work of the Devil.

… with some former government officials, we took a day one time and went over some of the federal budget. Instantly found three agencies that were all duplicating the same job and none of them were doing it very good. We could have done away with all three and not known anything was missing… Just bizarre, the mismanagement of our federal government. Trump obviously sees this. He’s going after it…

Let’s hope none of these agencies were the Department of Education.
