Christian Activist Defends Greg Gianforte: We Need “a More Violent Christianity”

On yesterday’s “Pass The Salt Live” show, conservative activist and host Dave Daubenmire defended both Donald Trump and Montana’s new congressman Greg Gianforte.

Gianforte, of course, made national headlines for assaulting a reporter the day before his special election, while video clips of Trump arrogantly pushing his way to the front of a group of world leaders were all over the internet.

How could Daubenmire defend any of that? They were men. Manly men. Manly Christian men doing what God wanted them to do.

“The only thing that is going to save Western civilization is a more aggressive, a more violent Christianity,” he said.

“Look at [Trump],” Daubenmire screamed gleefully while watching the clip. “They’re all little puppies, ain’t nobody barking at him … He’s walking in authority. He walked to the front and center and they all know it, too, man. He just spanked them all.”

Trump’s behavior is an example for the church, Daubenmire said. “The Lord is showing us a picture of the authority we should be walking in.”

“That should be the heart cry of Christian men,” Daubenmire said. “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of God has suffered violence and violent men take it by force.

That’s a hell of a defense for two guys being abusive and rude. Imagine Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama doing either of those things and ask yourself if people like Daubenmire would ever say the same things and you get a sense of how much of a hypocrite these people are.

There’s nothing Republican Christians can do that’ll upset the Religious Right, even though liberal leaders offering even a hint of those actions would result in full-blown conservative outrage.
