Josh Duggar is Slowly Returning To Public Life As If Nothing Ever Happened

Josh Duggar, the conservative Christian reality TV personality and admitted child molester, has resurfaced online in family photos after years of staying under the radar. And that may just be the beginning.

The Washington Post listed the 19 Kids and Counting fixture as one of the “15 people the Internet Hated Most in 2015,” but that’s all over now. Or so it seems. Duggar’s family welcomed him home with open arms, and included him in family photos from his son’s birthday celebration on their official Facebook page.

The commenters were mostly ecstatic to see Josh Duggar in the photos, but I’m not sure what process (if any) was used to screen out negative reactions. One commenter replied, “Would love to see more of Josh and Anna and the kids… Miss seeing them and hope they are all doing well.”

Although the vast majority of the comments supported Josh and his admittance back into the family photos, some expressed disappointment. One commenter wrote, “I love the show but I am not happy to see Josh, I guess I am not as forgiving as you Church people. I would not want that man 5 feet in front of me with the woman he’s been with. You are stronger then him Anna, he is never going to change.”

Another fan of the Duggar clan said she loves “seeing what’s going on in the lives of the other children” but is “still uncomfortable” when she sees Josh.

In case you were under a rock in 2015, Duggar was accused of molesting five girls, including four of his own siblings. He later admitted to acting “inexcusably” when he was a “young teenager,” but completely downplayed the crimes and let Jesus take the wheel.

I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life. I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life. I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions. In my life today, I am so very thankful for God’s grace, mercy and redemption.

Did I read that first line correctly? Does he think we are upset with him because he almost ruined his life? I’m far more concerned about what his actions did to those victims. It’s beyond me why people who tout their family values let an admitted child molester and adulterer back into their lives like nothing happened… even if he is their son.

And before you suggest it’s merely a picture and this really isn’t some comeback, check out what a source told In Touch Weekly, the same website that broke the Josh Duggar molestation story in the first place:

Ratings for his younger sisters’ spin-off series, Jill & Jessa: Counting On have begun to slip — so the Duggar family patriarch, Jim Bob, devised a plan to not only save his family’s show (and primary source of income) but also revitalize his disgraced son’s career.

“He spent a month trying to convince TLC that Josh should be back on the show. They finally caved and agreed to let him film an upcoming Counting On webisode where he’ll talk about his joy at learning he’s going to be a father again,” the source explains. If the episode is well-received, “He’ll appear on the next season of Counting On.”

This is a slow attempt at a comeback. And just because his family is known for their Christian values doesn’t mean Josh should be able to capitalize on his crimes. If liberals are losing jobs and getting well-deserved criticism for their words and symbolic actions, surely Josh Duggar shouldn’t be staging a return after the horrific things he actually did without condemnation from all sides.
