Flat-Earthers Just Put Up a Billboard Urging Everyone To Do Some “Research”

According to the Daily Plane, the not-a-joke website for conspiracists who believe the world is flat, a new digital billboard in Philadelphia urges viewers to “RESEARCH FLAT EARTH.”

Because the problem with our understanding of the shape of the planet is that no one’s ever studied it before

I suppose they should be thrilled by the media coverage.

“We believe this is something that needs to be talked about,” Math Powerland, who purchased the billboard, said.

Powerland lives in New Mexico and is one of the founders of the Flat Plane Society, a group which believes the earth is flat. Powerland says NASA pictures and videos of the curved earth are faked.

“We believe it’s all faked. All of it is in front of CGI, augmented reality, the space walks are most part done in desalinated water tanks,” Powerland said.

If you scrape the bottom of the barrel enough, flat-Earthers will appear…

The $835 digital billboard will appear just outside the Philadelphia airport for 8 seconds at a time, every minute or so. (The airport. Where people are flying around the globe.)

The money was raised through a GoFundMe campaign. One contributor gave $900 (presumably to cover the billboard and GoFundMe’s take) with the simple message, “Do it!”

And if you think the message itself is silly, you should see the ones that were rejected.

WE KNOW. THEY KNOW WE KNOW. DO YOU? THE EARTH IS FLAT”

And my personal favorite: “why did the chicken cross the road? … because the Earth is flat.”

So there you go. Proof that Republicans are not the least scientifically literate people on the planet.
