Triple-Murder Suspect Told Police He Didn’t “Know Where God Put” Victim’s Body

Two years ago, 24-year-old Derek Saretzky was charged with three counts of first-degree murder. Two of his alleged victims included Terry Blanchette and his two-year-old daughter Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette.

The trial is currently underway in Lethbridge, Alberta, and the jury is hearing tapes of Saretzky’s interview with police not long after he was arrested. According to him, he was just following God’s orders. And God doesn’t have a very good memory.

Saretzky said God told him about Hailey.

“God did it. God works in some weird ways,” Saretzky said.

“I don’t think God would make a two-year-old baby girl just disappear,” the officer replied.

Talking to officers in the police car on the way to RCMP headquarters, Saretzky was asked again where Hailey’s body was.

“I don’t know where God put her,” he replied.

Only later did he lead officers to her remains, at a nearby campground fire pit. He’s pled not guilty to all three murders, though police say they have video confessions in each case.

When Saretzky was finally taken to jail after that conversation, he had one request for reading material: a copy of the Bible.
