Actor Rob Lowe Thought Bigfoot Was Going to Kill Him While Filming New Show

Actor Rob Lowe, probably best known for his perky role on Parks and Recreation, doesn’t just believe in the supernatural. He claims he was almost killed by Bigfoot while filming his new reality TV show.

Lowe, who is promoting his new paranormal investigation show called The Lowe Files, wouldn’t give too many details about the encounter because it occurs in the season finale. (What a surprise, right?)

However, he did say he is “absolutely” more of a believer after his alleged encounters with ghosts.

We captured some incredible [footage]. Our first episode is about poltergeists in one of the most notoriously haunted structures in America. Nothing is staged, nothing is trick-cut — no B.S. I believe there are probably ghosts out there.

Lowe, who hosts the show with his two adult sons, went on to describe “an incredible encounter” with a “wood ape” (a.k.a. the Bigfoot of the Ozark Mountains).

I’m fully aware that I sound like a crazy, Hollywood kook right now… I was lying on the ground thinking I was going to be killed… A wood ape is the local vernacular for a Sasquatch or a Bigfoot… Sadly for you, my good friend, the wood ape is in the one-hour season finale.

Well, if hunting Bigfoot doesn’t work out, at least Lowe can read my mind.

He didn’t give any revealing details about that episode, though he did set the scene for their alleged “wood ape” encounter.

We’re 100 miles from the nearest town. We spent 45 minutes on the most rugged, brutal mountain trails. It’s 1 in the morning. There are a lot of serious former military men with loaded weapons, then something starts approaching our camps that is defying their orders to stop and their warnings that [they were] armed.

That could have have just been panic resulting from noise in a remote forest… or manufactured noise for the sake of a TV show… but I guess assuming it’s a wood ape rather than a deer or moose is more fun. Lowe dodged questions about whether or not we get to see the creature on camera.

I don’t want to oversell as a results-oriented show, although we have incredible results. It’s [instead] a father-son, guy, bro adventure. It’s bittersweet, funny, silly… that opening I did all myself. I think it gives you a good sense of the tone. It’s nostalgic, bittersweet, and a badass adventure.

I wonder if Lowe actually believes this nonsense or if he’s just playing a part in a publicity stunt for the show. I guess I can’t blame him. How else is he supposed to promote another soon-to-fail show about the search for the supernatural that will inevitably produce no tangible results?

For the record, my search of the interview transcript for the words “proof” and “evidence” yielded a grand total of zero results. That should tell you everything you need to know about whether you should tune in this August.
