Remember Opal Covey?
She’s the self-proclaimed “prophetess” who came in dead last in the 2015 race for mayor of Toledo, Ohio, then insisted she actually won the election because all the votes had been stolen from her. It was the only way she could reconcile the results with the fact that God told her she would be Mayor.
Well, she’s running for mayor again.
I love the Toledo Blade‘s description of this, because you know they’re trying to be objective even though everyone knows she has no business running the town.
Self-described “Prophetess” Opal Covey, 76, filed signature petitions Friday to run for mayor in the Sept. 12 primary.Ms. Covey, a Republican and a church minister, claimed Friday with no evidence that she was a victim of voter fraud, for which she blamed Democrats, in her previous runs for mayor. She has run for mayor in 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013, and 2015.
“Democrats are planning to do whatever they can to keep me off the seat. But God is on the scene now. No one will be able to steal my votes this time,” her flyer says.
In 2015, Ms. Covey… came in last of seven candidates with 544 votes out of 64,803 cast.
There you go. God is on top of this, so she can’t possibly lose. But when she loses, it’ll be because all the votes were stolen from her.
God: He’s all-powerful, all-knowing, all-seeing… He just can’t stop voter fraud.
Now if only someone could explain to me what the hell those other 543 people were thinking in the 2015 elections…
