Jim Bakker’s Band Sings “Stayin’ Alive” So You’ll Buy His Giant Buckets of Food

After a while, you just need new ways of selling giant buckets of apocalyptic survival food or people will stop paying attention. Everyone knows that. That’s why televangelist Jim Bakker has marketed them as everything from a response to Zika to a way to furnish your house.

His latest ploy? Advertising $75 food buckets with a 30-year shelf life with a cringe-worthy rendition of the Bee Gees‘ “Stayin’ Alive”:

“This show today is so important,” Bakker warned. “God woke me up and I felt the presence of God like I never felt and He said, ‘Jim, I want you to do more food, build a new type of food.’”

“This is what God is saying to me,” [Bakker] added. “We’re in the Last Days. The years I spent in prison, God showed me the revelation and I’m telling you, almost all of it [has already happened.] We’re going to see the End of Time and that is where we are right now.”

With that, Bakker turned thing over to the show’s band, which performed a rousing medley of the Bee Gees’ song “Staying Alive” mixed with another tune that featured lyrics such as, “I’ve got my food, I’m staying alive, I got my pizza and I’m staying alive.”

There are some people who spend their lives helping people, who dedicate their lives to making the world a better place.

And then there are people like Bakker, who want to scare gullible old people enough that they’ll buy food, in bulk, for an event that’s never coming.

What’s the joy in staying alive when you constantly live in fear?
