Donald Trump’s Spiritual Advisor: If You Oppose the President, You Oppose God

One of the many evangelicals who remains by Donald Trump‘s side — since he can do no wrong in their eyes — is Paula White, his spiritual advisor. Naturally, she’s a telegenic televangelist. And during an interview today with the End Times-obsessed Jim Bakker, White said that opposition to Trump was essentially opposition to God.

She made the comments after praising Trump for not being a traditional President.

“Thank goodness,” she said. “In other words, he’s not a polished politician. In other words, he’s authentically — whether people like him or not, he’s been raised up by God because God says that He raises up and places all people in places of authority. It is God that raises up a king, it is God that sets one down and so when you fight against the plan of God, you’re fighting against the hand of God.

If that doesn’t make you want to join #TheResistance, I don’t know what will. It’s a twofer! Fight back against Trump’s immoral, ignorant agenda and God becomes part of the collateral damage.

Bakker couldn’t stop praising Trump either, celebrating the idea that his presidency will suddenly put an end to abortion:

“God is shaking America, people,” Bakker said. “He gave us a president who says we’re not going to murder babies. You can’t be blessed and murder 50 million babies! You can’t! You can’t! You can’t! You can’t!”

As I mentioned yesterday, Trump recently cut funding to an Obama-era program that reduced the rate of teen pregnancies. By taking away those funds, teenage pregnancy rates will go up, which means more teens will get abortions.

Even if Trump and the complicit Republican Party defunded Planned Parenthood and (somehow) overturned Roe v. Wade, abortions would still happen. Just not safely.

So I don’t know what Bakker’s celebrating.

But his excitement, plus White’s unyielding allegiance to him, and the standing ovation of the studio audience, and the continued support Trump gets from his Evangelical Advisory Board, and the way an overwhelming number of evangelicals in the pews act like Trump’s not nearly as awful as he actually is… it all just goes to show you that when a Republican President pays them lip service, they won’t give a damn about any of his myriad flaws. But when a Democrat like Obama (who genuinely is a Christian) doesn’t give them special treatment, there’s nothing he can do that will ever be redeeming.

Joe Jervis also points out that White and Bakker share something else in common. He sells giant buckets of overpriced apocalyptic food, and she once asked her followers to give her $1,144 apiece as a “resurrection seed.”

“You say, Paula, I just don’t have that, then sow $144. I don’t have that. Sow $44 but stand on John Chapter 11:44,” she asserted.

White then promised that in return for sowing the resurrection seed, donors would receive special prayer cloths that could possible cause special miracles, signs and wonders.

No wonder these people love Trump. They’re in awe of how he’s a better scam artist than them.
