Kevin Swanson: God Is Punishing Texas for Not Passing Anti-Trans Bathroom Bill

We have another pastor to add to the list of those blaming Houston’s acceptance of homosexuality for why the city was hit by a hurricane. It’s the third one this week with any sort of following.

This time, it’s from Pastor Kevin Swanson, a man that one-time Republican presidential hopefuls like Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, and Bobby Jindal had no problem associating with during their campaigns even though Swanson has called for the execution of gay people.

On his radio show today, Swanson explained the real reason Hurricane Harvey hit Houston:

Swanson said that it is no coincidence that Houston was hit by this storm because “it was persecuting pastors and churches” and recently had “a very, very aggressively pro-homosexual mayor.” On top of that, he said, the Texas legislature recently failed to pass a bill “that would have prevented cross-dressing men from using the women’s restrooms” because “they wanted to encourage the abomination of men attempting to dress like women and women attempting to dress like men.”

“I think that the entire state of Texas and the entire United States of America needs to take note of this,” Swanson warned, “and realize that there is a God in heaven, He brings His judgments and He calls nations to repentance, as He is doing right now.”

Swanson ignores the fact that the lesbian mayor has been out of office for more than a year and a half, that she never persecuted pastors, and that the failure to pass an anti-trans bathroom bill would affect all of Texas equally (you’d think) instead of only Houston.

If LGBTQ equality was God’s main reason for striking a city with a natural disaster, then Austin would be a way more likely target than Houston. Just sayin’.

Swanson had nothing to say, of course, about climate change or location. Hurricane Harvey was all about LGBTQ acceptance. Because everything for these people comes down to that single issue.
