Christian Group That Endorses Roy Moore Wants Congress to Eject Sexual Harassers

How hypocritical is the Religious Right? You won’t see a more clear example than this.

The American Family Association just issued a press release calling on Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to release the names of all Congress members who have been accused of sexual harassment and had to pay out taxpayer-funded settlements in their cases. (These are the funds that play a role in the scandal now involving Democratic Rep. John Conyers.)

On the surface, the AFA calling for more transparency in that regard is a great idea. Where it goes wrong is when you read their stated motivation for all this: They want Ryan and McConnell to “quit protecting perverts in Congress.” They want to get rid of the “Congressional sex offenders.”

That would be a hell of a lot more convincing if AFA’s political arm didn’t also endorse Alabama’s Roy Moore, who’s been accused of pedophilia and inappropriate sexual advances, kicked out of a mall for creepily hitting on teenage girls, and allegedly asked out one student while was in her high school trigonometry class.

AFA Action said on Facebook earlier this month that Moore is “a truthful man and a solid Christian.”

So they want the perverts and harassers out of Congress… in order to make room for an alleged child molester.

That’s conservative Christian logic for you.

What they really want is for Congress to eliminate anyone accused of harassment if they don’t hold conservative Christian views. But anyone with a Jesus Immunity Card is allowed to stay.

It’s hypocritical, and it’s exactly what we’ve come to expect from these people.
