“It’s a Blessing,” Says Family After House Burns Down But Bibles Remain Intact

A family in Haughton, Louisiana lost just about everything on Christmas when their house burned down in a fire. They’re okay, thankfully, but their belongings are all gone. Everything except a couple of Bibles whose covers were singed but were otherwise still okay.

You can guess where this story is going, can’t you?

But the only items to survive the blaze assures them that this is all part of God’s plan.

“The Bible is the only thing, everything else is crisp and burnt, but the Holy Bible never burns up, it’s a blessing.”

The charred edges reminding them to be strong, brave and to be thankful.

I’ll tell you what: If my house ever burns down, the bibles can go, but I’d like to keep everything else.

The opposite is not a blessing. It’s tragic. Other books with a leather cover, in certain parts of the house, may also have survived the fire. The news reports never explain where the bibles were located, what else could be salvaged, or why those particular books didn’t burn up along with everything else. In that sense, it’s not really news; it’s just propaganda.

And, of course, if God wanted to bless them, He could’ve done it without ruining His Son’s birthday and possibly killing the family members had they been inside. But what do I know? I’m not all-powerful and all-knowing.

There is a GoFundMe page set up for the family if you’d like to help. Donations would do more for this family than God did by giving them some burned Bibles (and a lot of ashes) for Christmas.
