Remember When Penn Jillette Was the One Dishing Out Backhanded Compliments to Christians?

Hemant pointed out earlier today why it’s a backhanded compliment to profess delight at finding that an atheist is ethical. It happened to Penn Jillette, on All-Star Celebrity Apprentice, and I certainly agree that it’s annoying — whether the insult was intended or not.

But it goes both ways. Did you ever see this video of Penn, in which he recounts his meeting with a Christian fan who gave him a Bible?

Penn seems to confirm his own original biases by repeated statements such as these, made in apparent awe and wonder:

Why Calling Penn Jillette an ‘Ethical Atheist’ is Not a Compliment

On Sunday’s season finale of All-Star Celebrity Apprentice, Donald Trump “hired” country singer Trace Adkins over atheist magician Penn Jillette. (Oh! Spoiler: The Apprentice is still on the air.)

I’ve spent the last 30 years as a Star Wars fanboy. I’m not even sure how I ended up married to a woman who had never even seen the films.

I’m also formerly Christian.

No One’s Asking the Duck Dynasty Family to Stop Praying

You may have seen rumors (like the one below) floating around on Facebook that A&E asked the family at the center of the show Duck Dynasty to stop praying on television after complaints from “liberals” and “atheists.” (And the family refused to listen! Aren’t they amazing?!)

Of course, none of that’s true.
