The Long Awaited Maggie Update

I was looking at some old posts the other day, and I realized that I haven’t written about Maggie in a long time! Since I’m sure at least some of you only stick around to see her sweet face from time to time, prepare for a Maggie update.

1.

She is just about 7.5 months old! As cliche as it sounds, it has gone so fast, despite moments and days (like today) which moved excrutiatingly slow.

She has no teeth, and no signs of one yet. She’s been drooling and gnawing on things forever, so I was expecting a tooth by now. But I’m not complaining because she is

2.

a really good sleeper. She sleeps most nights between 9-11 hours, and wakes maybe once (sometimes twice) for a paci. It’s been good for morale, though I fully expect that things might fall apart when teeth appear. If I’m prepared for the worst case, then even if it’s only moderately better than that, it will seem great!

3.

The only downside to her sleeping so long is that just about every morning she saturates her crib sheet, pj’s, and mattress pad.

I’ve tried extra protection disposable diapers, and the cloth diapers with an extra hemp insert. They both work, sort of. It really depends on when the diaper goes on. Unless it goes on ten minutes before bed, she leaks through.

Ah well, I’ll take it.

4.

We went to the pool! We took her to the local Ymca pool, and she really liked it. We sat with her in the baby pool and held her in the water. She loved it once she figured out that she could s-p-l-a-s-h!

5.

We spent the 4th of July (yes, I know it was a month ago!) with Atticus’ parents, and we had a photo shoot with Maggie wearing one of Atticus’ polo shirts from his baby days in the 1980’s.

Too much fun!

We’ve been having a fun summer, though it’s been so hot here recently that we haven’t gotten out for many walks. Today was the first day it was only a high of 81 since June! We had a nice long walk.

She loves to watch the leaves blow.
