Idol words

Syesha is certainly the most improved of all the singers, developing from inauspicious beginnings into a fine singer and performer. The two Davids, though, are in a class by themselves. I have been favoring Cook, but I’m thinking Archuleta was even better last night.

What I want to comment on is Jason Castro. Look, you can’t be like Bob Marley just by having dreadlocks! You’ve got to have. . .well. . .soul. Not just external packaging. That would help also if you are going to sing a Bob Dylan song, that and remembering the words.

If Jason doesn’t get voted off tonight, whether because of some sympathy vote or because of the “vote the worst” crowd or because teeny-boppers think he is cute, I’m going to have to seriously re-evaluate my faith in democracy.

UPDATE: He DID get voted off. The world has been made safe for democracy. I will now eagerly await the people’s decision about the presidency.

I’m with you. Jason was a train wreck last night. I told my wife EXACTLY what you said – if he stays, it’s confirmation that the voting is nothing more than teenybopper girls voting for the pretty boy. In fact, Simon made reference to this several weeks ago – said something about it being a popularity contest versus a talent search. And he was right.

Jason WANTS to leave. It’s so obvious. He’s sung so much better than last night in previous weeks. For whatever reason, he has lost interest in winning. I hope his wish comes true tonight.

My prediction of order of elimination: Jason tonight, Syesha next week and the two Davids in the final with Archie as the winner. Cook is my favorite, but I do not want him to win. I think that David A. wants and would benefit from the AI prize package more so than David C. who could walk away today and still be as successful.

It’s obvious these fans have never seen dreadlocks up close.
A lot more going on there than just long hair.
Jason is a mere poser, from the dreadlocks to his bare comprehension of his songs and their various styles–everything comes out Jason: no depth, no lasting impact. No there, there.
Sometimes I think America prefers not just the vacuous, but utter vacuum.

I can’t stand to watch the guy. Drives me crazy. And, my teeny bopper daughters agree. (Well, one kind of likes him, but the other can’t tolerate him. She leaves the room.)

    Dredlocks are dreadful locks!
    Not for the squeamish!
I don’t think he was in it to win it by the end. I don’t think he has a serious bone in his body or hair on his head.
The top three now, though not all of them the most talented, are definitely talented, which is a plus, and which makes me more ambivalent than ever.
Though I haven’t forgiven David Archuleta for having chosen Imagine as a meaningful song, or whatever that criteria was way back then…

One local news commenator thought that Jason’s nonchalance attitude in his being informed that he was going off was a slap in the face to the other
contestants and have to agree! The “laid back” attitude, I think is a cover for incredible arrogance.
