Law and Gospel preaching

Would you like an example–or, better yet, a model–of a sermon that powerfully applies the Law and then powerfully applies the Gospel? Here is what Pastor Douthwaite preached yesterday, on the text of Romans 6:12-23.

Great message. Now, how can I steal this sermon without sinning?

Praise the God Who is our only answer for sin!

Thanks for giving us a heads up about it.

Grace and Peace to you brother,

    Wonderful sermon:

And so for the Christian, the opposite of sinning is to repent. For that is to live under grace.

    thanks for sharing,

I love reading or hearing the pure preaching of God’s Word. My response is amen. While the Law always condemns me, God confers His Sons righteousness on me.

    bob hunter:

in the holy church there is no such thing as plagerism when it is about Jesus and his grace. plagerize freely and with a pure conscience!

this sermon handled an area that is problematic even for most Lutherans with great lucidity. thanks for this Dr Vieth! I needed to hear this today. I have not been feeling alot like a “good person”. the opposite of sin is faith!
