The Vice-President game: Democrat edition

The help we give to the Republicans we will also offer to the Democrats. Who should Barack Obama choose for his running mate?

Is there a Vice-Presidential choice that would make you MORE open to Obama? (Michael Gerson makes the case for the ex-missionary pro-life governor of Colorado, Bill Ritter.) If you are leaning in Obama’s direction, is there a pick that would make you LESS likely to support him?

Whoever mentions the name of the person whom Obama ACTUALLY chooses will win an imaginary crown of victory.

I would not vote for Obama if Ronald Reagan in his prime were the VP.

    Thanks, Dr. Veith -
I’d like to see Sen. Obama choose someone with solid pro-life credentials, i.e., someone who did not collaborate with Pres. Bush to blitzkrieg Iraq.
That means a governor or perhaps a senator or congressperson elected after ’02. Someone also who’s concerned about the American poor and disadvantaged.
My first choice was VA Sen. James Webb, but he declined. Gov. Kaine of VA sounds promising. I don’t know Gov. Ritter.
In any event, if Sen. Obama is elected, I worry for him, given all the hatred.

He needs someone who is a veteran politician–I vote Sam Nunn. Nunn has also been out of politics for a while–he can be above the fray.

I agree with Greg. No matter whom he picked, I still would not vote for Obama.

Bass @ 2: Tim Kaine is not pro-life, to my knowledge. Although he claims to support some abortion restrictions, such as parental notification, he has stated his firm opposition to overturning Roe v. Wade.

I agree with Greg and Orianna. I think Obama will choose
a woman, but don’t have a clue who it might be. No doubt,
it will be a liberal, whether a male or female choice.

Is that the same governor of Colorado who signed the bill outlawing the Bible and mandating mixed-gender bathrooms?

Since, by the teachings of Islam, Barakh Hussein Obama is an apostate muslim, and therefore must be killed in service to Allah, the choice of VP is pretty important. The risk of assassination is high. Since the Democrat Party purged pro-lifers from its upper echelons, I can’t think of any Democrat for the job.

Bob Casey of Pennsylvania is a pro-life Democrat whose name is actually being floated as a VP possibility.

My son sports a bumper sticker that states “Obama/Marx in ’08″ with Obama and Karl Marx arm in arm and all smiles. At first I was afraid he would get injured. After further thought, I decided that 97% of Obama supporters don’t know who Marx is. Please forgive me.

    Booklover,
And if anyone comes up with a bumper sticker that says, “Obama/Lenin” I would guess that many would say, “How can that be, John died about 25 yrs. ago!” :(

The same Bob Casey locked out from even speaking at a recent national Dem convention -because- he is pro-life?

    “The same Bob Casey…?”

No, his son, currently one of Pennsylvania’s senators.

One name being floated is Senator Biden of Delaware, who has himself chased the nomination a number of times. I actually don’t think he’d help the ticket all that much and is widely regarded as a windbag. Too much potential for gaffes.

I agree with CRB, only I’ll go out on a small limb and say the woman picked won’t be Hillary.
