Need help with your blog?

Some time ago, I enlisted the aid of a student, Stewart, to update my blog software. He also added all kinds of bells and whistles that you can’t see but that make my blogging much easier. Now Stewart and some of his comrades at Patrick Henry College have put together a business: Bulldog Technology. Armed with the necessary certifications, they can do everything from designing your website to fixing your hardware. They claim to offer the best service at the lowest prices. Their site, linked above, lists their services and features an easily-filled-out form for getting a price quote. The site also gives testimonials from satisfied customers and includes a remarkably lucid and non-technical blog about the latest useful online software. If you need help, as I always do, I can vouch for these guys.

If it wouldn’t be giving away trade secrets, I’d be interested in finding out what “bells and whistles” were added to your blog — visible or not — to make it nicer. Just the names of WordPress plugins (assuming that’s what they are) would suffice.

Two big ones: the ability to “publish” posts so that they pop up at a selected time, the next day, or several days ahead of time. (That may have been possible with my very old WordPress version, but I didn’t know how to do it until Stewart showed me how.) The other is a plug-in called Ozh Admin, which changes the WordPress dashboard into a system of drop down menus, which I find much easier to use. Other plug-ins include some to optimize the performance in various ways. They include Advance Excerpt, Role Manager, Subscribe to Comments, wp-cache, wp-email wp-postviews, wp-print.

I like their TIPS page. From one of the articles there, I discovered a more energy-efficient alternative to google searching:
