Republicans postpone convention

Good thing we don’t believe in omens.  (Or do we?):  The Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida, was supposed to start today.  It’s been postponed until Tuesday, for fear that Tropical Storm Isaac might turn into Hurricane Isaac, which may very well wreak havoc in the Sunshine state and with Republican convention plans.

Or perhaps the better question is, does a former elder of the church of Latter Day Saint’s believe in omens?

Have we heard from Pat Robertson about the hurricane yet? What sort of judgment is God bringing upon Tampa? Or is a storm just a storm when it assails Republicans? :-D

Well, no, but rhetorical questions, obviously yes. ;-)

@1–Practically all Mormon men once they achieve their adulthood achieve the status of “elder”–the last “elder” I met was a 20-year-old missionary. (Like “elder” is supposed to impress me?) Actually, Mitt was a Bishop who oversaw all the stakes and wards in the Boston area.

If the RNC was smart they would cancel the “rah, rah, us” speeches and send people out to help with any clean up.

DLit21C – good suggestion. I have a lot of disdain for the “rah rah us” thing in the political arena. It is ever so infantile.

So, just so we’re keeping track, that’s two Republican National Conventions in a row that have been delayed by hurricanes. If that were to happen to the Democrats, we’d never hear the end of it.

Republicans are wildly inconsistent aeromancers, is what I’m saying. (Or possibly austromancers or ceraunoscopers.)

Maybe GOP planners are more worried about dealing with tornadoes at a Midwest convention, or is it that the night life in Witchita is not glitzy enough?

Seems the convention hasn’t been postponed, just events and speakers. Not that the speakers will make much difference. Though maybe whack stuff like the “Agenda 21″ plank will (if the Pew poll’s conclusions are correct).

The hurricane is apparently keeping Trump away. Which is probably a good thing….

I wonder if the Democratic convention will promise anything from a second Obama term. More of the same?

Obama for a poorer America. It seems to me they have to focus entirely on disqualifying Romney since Americans are poorer now than in 2009 or 2010.

Quite a difference on the left from hope and change to fear and loathing.
