Here is the Hobbit soundtrack

The soundtrack for the upcoming Hobbit movie has been posted online, for free. Listen to it here:  Hobbit.

Bilbo Baggins is being played by Martin Freeman, who plays Dr. Watson in BBC’s excellent modern-day update of the Sherlock Holmes saga, Sherlock.  And the actor who plays said Sherlock, who has the splendid name of Benedict Cumberbatch, has a part in the Hobbit, playing the Necromancer.  (I believe that’s the mysteriously sinister figure who turns out to be Sauron in the Lord of the Rings.)  By the way, Sherlock is many times better than the American attempt at the same scenario Elementary.  Wouldn’t you say?

Benedict Cumberbatch is also to be the voice and provide the facial expressions of Smaug the Dragon. much like Andy Serkis does for Gollum. But while I do think that Sherlock is superior to Elementary, the latter is still a very good show!

I’d say it’ the writing of Steven Moffat. You’ll notice that his Doctor Who is superior to those we grew up with too.

Hey now! Tom Baker is still my favorite doctor!!!!

Can’t wait to Smaug. That’s half the reason I want to see the movie.

Yes, “Elementary” isn’t even in the same universe as “Sherlock.” Which kind of saves “Elementary” for me. They’re not even seriously trying to be Sherlock Holmes, so I can enjoy it as a pretty fair American mystery show with the occasional Baker Street reference.

Stephen Moffat as the writer makes me want to watch Sherlock, simply because, while there are a few episodes to equal his in new Doctor Who, there are simply none that top his. It’s nearly impossible to get better television than The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, and others of his. (I haven’t gotten to the Moffat/Smith era, yet, but I’m looking forward to it on the basis of the brilliant writing I’ve seen so far.)

It was Moffat who coined that brilliant term, “Timey-Wimey.” “And whatever you do, don’t blink!

Actually, I’m pretty sure that this is the soundtrack to The Hobbit.

But even if the soundtrack Veith links to ends up getting used instead, I think I’ll just wait for the remix to come out. I hear it’s so long, they’re releasing it on three separate albums!
