2013 NCAA Tournament

The NCAA basketball tournament is all set.  You may fill out your brackets:  2013 NCAA Tournament Bracket – March Madness Tournament Brackets – ESPN.  While a good part of America’s workplaces will be turned into gambling parlors, we will host a simpler pool:  What two teams will play for the national championship, and which one will win?

I’ll go first:  Gonzaga (this is a good year for Jesuits) and the University of Kansas (one of my alma maters).  The Jayhawks, despite an up-and-down season, will win.  (This is real life, not a Catholic movie.)

Tiebreaker:  What unexpected team will come out of nowhere and surprise everyone by making the Sweet Sixteen or even higher as happens nearly every year?

Louisville vs. Indiana; Indiana takes it.

I will also say the Jesuits, but the one’s from St. Louis University. SLU vs. Georgetown, SLU wins. The Cinderella story on the year.

  • Dennis

Indiana and Duke in finals–IU the winner. Watch for one of the MO Valley (Wichita State and Creighton) teams to surprise. And don’t count out Lon Krueger’s Oklahoma.

  • Pete

Gonzaga vs. Indiana. Zags will win.

I am pretty terrible at predicting brackets, but I have Kansas over Louisville in the championship game, with Iowa State as the lowest-seeded team in the Sweet 16.

University of Texas just edges out Oregon State in the third period.

Boy, what a border battle that would be! The local media would go nuts, and Hoosier fans would gloat over their river rivals for years.

Louisville vs. Indiana. Indiana wins at the buzzer.

Jayhawks over Louisville in the championship game. As a Jayhawk myself, my prediction is always the Jayhawks over anybody! That is, as long as Obama does not pick them to win it all.

  • Orianna Laun

Well, apparently I am bad at picking winning teams.
