Feds Arrest Massachusetts Man Stockpiling Weapons Plotting to Kill Muslims, Cops, and President Obama August 30, 2016

Federal authorities arrest Joseph Garguilo of Massachusetts on charges including stockpiling weapons in what federal authorities described as “a trove” of weapons, ammunition, and material that could be used in bomb-making.  The 40-year old resident of Holliston, MA–one hour southwest of Boston, MA–is alleged to have stated that he wanted to target Muslims, Homeland Security officers, and President Obama.

Garguilo previously had a temporary restraining order placed on him in which he had been ordered to “surrender all firearms and ammunition to local Police…” According to New England Cable News, the suspect was not licensed to carry a weapon in the state of Massachusetts.

Garguilo regretted that he had not taken the opportunity of President Obama’s recent vacation to Martha’s Vineyard to kill the President while he golfed according to an FBI Investigation.

According to the investigation, Garguilo stated that he wanted to “chain a mosque closed and burn it down.” Garguilo allegedly stated that he would “plant a bomb in police stations and kill as many Homeland Security officers as he can before they kill him.”

The FBI had been alerted to Garguilo on July 27, 2016. In the report from the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Massachusetts:

…the FBI received information Garguilo had recently acquired parts to make an AR-15 rifle, and he was stockpiling other weapons including tasers, mace guns, hunting knives and thermite (an incendiary). …The FBI also learned that Garguilo was stockpiling food and water as a part of this plan, and that an acquaintance of Garguilo’s believed he was “about to snap.”

Investigators provided a list of weapons that were seized from Garguilo. The stockpile included an unspecified number of rounds of 5.56 ammunition, one plastic ammunition can of 5.56 ammunition designed to be fired by the R-15 rifle, 4 magazines containing 9mm rounds of ammunition and at least 30 rounds of loose 9 mm ammunition, AR-15 parts that could be used to assemble an AR-15 rifle, aluminium powder, ammonium nitrate, and iron oxide–all items can be used to create explosives and incendiaries, and a handwritten notes threatening violence against members of the Islamic religion

Garguilo is scheduled to appear in Federal Court in Boston on Monday and could face up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
