On Sunday, May 11, 2014, the Chattanooga Humanist Assembly invited me out to speak on what it’s like living as a secularist in the Deep South. The talk was entitled “How to Be Godless in Dixie.” The full talk lasts about 32 minutes, and can be found here:
If you don’t have half an hour to hear the whole talk, you can also listen to a 9-minute excerpt here, entitled “You Might Live in the Bible Belt If…”
Tune in later this week for a downloadable mp3 of the talk, plus another mp3 of the Q&A session that followed.
While organizing a national Interview an Atheist at Church day, Kile Jones and Tia Carley (both studying theology at Claremont) connected me with a local minister who was willing to interview me at his church on May 1, 2013. Because of their efforts, Hemant Mehta (aka “The Friendly Atheist“) posted the interview and in three short weeks the video garnered more than 20,000 views (even though it was 45 minutes of just talking and no girls in bikinis or kittens falling off of tables). Since then it’s reached more than 60,000 views. Below is the full interview, followed by a much shorter excerpt (about 16 minutes).
And the shorter excerpt, entitled “What Christians Wish Atheists Knew About Them”:
At the request of several viewers, over the next few months I intend to post more videos on my YouTube channel. Check it out and subscribe if you’d like to make sure you can see them all :-)
