GrowMama Roundup: Birthdays

We turned to some of our GrowMama readers and writers to see how they deal with birthdays in their families.  Let us ask you the same question, “Birthdays… What do you do?” B wrote of a fresh twist on the traditional birthday party, “It finally happened... my daughter asked for a birthday party. Before this, my husband and I were undecided about birthday parties. I grew up with them; his family barely acknowledged birthdays. GrowMama Roundup: The Season of Motherhood

A constant question that arises in our minds as mothers is how we can maintain individual fulfillment while making sure that our children are being nurtured and cared for. One of our GrowMama mothers posited the question this way:  Why is the mother’s role frequently limited to raising leaders instead of being leaders, or being the seekers of change? The story of the woman promised paradise might help explain to your beloved son or daughter the answer to questions such as these. This beautiful hadith in narrated by … [Read more...]

The Ninety-Nine Names of Allah Tree

In Islam we do not have images of Allah, but through these beautiful names we can gain a better understanding of who He is. By encouraging … [Read more...]

Multi-schooling

“O Humanity. Behold, We have created you out of a male and female, and have made you into nations and tribes so that you might come to know one another.” (49: 13) I have been taught that this verse from the Glorious Qur’an is a prescription for us to embrace   language and ideas which will build relationships between all of members of humanity.  With this mindset, I want to propose a new term into our discussions - multi-schooling. Our family “multi-schools.” Likely, so do many … [Read more...]
