Your daily dose of cynicism

I promised a positive post today, and it’s coming, but today I had another “Glenn Greenwald actually managed to shock me today” moment (previous example here). Here is the lead sentence of a Washington Post article:

The CIA is seeking authority to expand its covert drone campaign in Yemen by launching strikes against terrorism suspects even when it does not know the identities of those who could be killed, U.S. officials say.

And the really sickening thing is very likely, even after this has been reported in the first sentence of an article in a major U.S. newspaper, too few people will care to make a difference.

But hey, if you want to try easing the pain through some black comedy, check out the new tumblr Texts From Drone (author’s explanation here, HT Andrew Sullivan)

Anonymous, random murder by Drone? The CIA has more pressing moral issues to contend with, like not paying prostitutes agreed upon wages.

But, if those people getting killed are super good, they’ll get go to heaven, and be with grandma and sparky!
